The FRIO wallet is an innovative product that solves, in an effective and economical way, the problem of keeping insulin at a safe temperative without refrigeration. They are light and compact, activated by water only, keep insulin cool for up to 48 hours, are reusable, and NEVER needs refrigeration.
The principle is simple. To activate the wallet, it is immersed in cold water for 10-15 minutes. Crystals contained in the panels of the wallet expand into a gel, which remains cool for several days -- relying on the process of evaporation for cooling. When in continuous use, succeeding immersion times will be shorter as the crystals are already in gel form. Although activated by water, a feature of the product is that, after towel-drying, the FRIO wallet is DRY TO THE TOUCH.
The FRIO wallet is formed by two compartments. The INTERIOR part (65-35 Poly-cotton) has panels containing super absorbent crystals, which are non-toxic and non-flammable. The OUTER pouch (Nylon Polyamide) is manufactured from a DuPont "Cambrelle". This pouch is permeable and facilitates the evaporation process, as well as the stability of the temperature inside the wallet.
